Local Shops of Horror

Local Shops of Horror returns to West Bottoms Plant Company on Wednesday, October 14, from 6 PM to 9 PM. It's Yelp Kansas City's biggest event of the year, now back for its second round, and it takes over an entire warehouse for an adults-only Halloween celebration of the local Yelp KC community. The night is built around complimentary bites, drinks, and live entertainment, and costumes are highly encouraged.

The food and drink come from a wide range of local Yelp-listed vendors, and the art follows suit. It's a good way to sample several Kansas City spots in one go rather than picking just one for the night. Since it's a warehouse space, there's plenty of room to move between the different setups.

Admission is free, but there's a suggested $20 donation per person, which goes to KCUR 89.3, Kansas City's NPR member station. KCUR first broadcast in 1957 and was a charter member of NPR, so the money stays local. The event is strictly 21+ with a valid ID, and each plus-one needs their own RSVP via Yelp, which isn't first-come-first-served, so you'll want to get yours sorted ahead of time.
