Free outdoor chamber music concert by the Kansas City Symphony's Mobile Music Box at Pierson Park.
The Kansas City Symphony is bringing its Mobile Music Box to Pierson Park on Tuesday, October 13, for a free outdoor chamber music concert. It's part of the Symphony's ongoing project to take classical music out of the concert hall and into the neighborhoods, and this stop puts them in the middle of Kansas City, Kansas.
If you haven't come across the Mobile Music Box before, it's a small ensemble of Symphony musicians playing chamber music—the kind of music written for a handful of players rather than a full orchestra—performed in the open air. The whole thing started during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Symphony looked for ways to reach people when the halls were closed. Since then, it's grown into a regular touring series that brings free concerts to audiences across the metro.
To give you a sense of the scale, Symphony musicians have performed in 258 unique locations across 93 zip codes, reaching tens of thousands of people. This stop at Pierson Park is one more in that long list, and like the others, it's free to attend.
