Concert featuring Judah & The Lion, with support from Breakfield and Band of Silver, at The Truman venue.
Judah & The Lion play The Truman on Wednesday, October 21, with support from Breakfield and Band of Silver. The show starts at 7:30 PM.
If you've followed them for a while, you know they've always been hard to pin down. They formed in Nashville, and their sound has drifted from folk and alt-rock into rock, alternative, and folk-hop. Judah Akers handles guitar and lead vocals, and Brian Macdonald is on mandolin and vocals. They've spent a lot of time on the road—eight years of nonstop touring, to be exact—and their latest record, Revival, marks their return to the studio. They recorded it at Echo Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina.
Revival also marks a shift in the lineup. Founding member Nate Zuercher left the group, which led Macdonald to take up the banjo and reshape the band's sound. The record draws on Akers' openness about processing anxiety and depression, and he frames it around a return to innocence and hope. It's their fourth album, and it's the one they're touring now. Earlier in their career, they earned iHeart Music's Best New Alternative Rock Artist of the Year in 2018.
