A theatrical production based on the Truman Capote non-fiction novel, following two drifters who elude the police after a brutal murder.
In Cold Blood opens at the Screenland Armour Theatre on Monday, October 12, at 6:30 PM. It's a theatrical production based on the true crime story that carries the same name, and it's playing right here in Kansas City.
The play follows two drifters who, after a botched robbery, end up on the run from the police following the brutal murder of a rural family. From there, the story tracks them as they try to evade capture, and eventually, as they come to terms with their own mortality and the repercussions of what they did. It's a heavy premise—a home-invasion killing and the aftermath—so you know exactly what kind of ground this one covers.
If you're familiar with the source material, you've probably seen it as a book or a movie, but this is a stage production, which means the whole thing plays out live in front of you. The focus stays on those two men and the fallout of that one night, and the way it's described suggests the second half of the show spends as much time with them facing their own end as it does with the crime itself.
