Improv in the Back

Improv in the Back is back at The Bird Comedy Theater on Saturday, October 17, starting at 7:30 PM. It's an improv showcase that takes over the venue's Back Room, and the setup is exactly what the name suggests: some of the city's best improvisers on a small stage in a tight, up-close space where every seat is a good one. If you've never been to The Bird, it's a comedy club in the Crossroads Arts District that stages improv, sketch, and stand-up, and it's got an in-house bar serving beer, wine, soft drinks, popcorn, and candy.

Because it's in the Back Room, the show is a bit more intimate than what you'll find in the main room. The performers are right there in front of you, and the whole thing runs for about an hour, so it's a relatively short commitment for a Saturday night. The show is recommended for ages 17 and over.

Getting there is easy if you're coming from downtown. The theater is at 103 W. 19th St. STE B, just a block and a half from the 19th Street streetcar stop, with street parking available nearby. General admission starts at $8.
