A guided nature hike led by a naturalist at Lakeside Nature Center, exploring the habitats surrounding the centre along the Fox Hollow Trail.
Lakeside Nature Center is hosting a Hike with a Naturalist on Saturday, October 17, and it's one of several they've got lined up through the fall. The walk is free and open to the public, so you don't need to be a regular or a member to join in.
It's a guided nature hike led by a naturalist, and it runs for about an hour. You'll be exploring the habitats around the center, usually following the upper Fox Hollow trail, which has rock cover and is accessible to most people. It's a slow-paced way to see the local landscape with someone who can actually point out what you're looking at, rather than just walking past it.
One thing to keep in mind: groups are capped at 20 people, not including chaperons, so it stays small enough to ask questions without shouting. And if you usually bring your dog along, this isn't the oneโdogs aren't allowed on the guided hikes.

This is part of a larger series the center runs through October, November, and December, so if you can't make the 17th, there are more coming. Alongside these free walks, they also offer fee-based Habitat Hikes tailored to specific audiences, with themes like General Habitat, Wetlands, Glade, Forest, Prairie, and Pollinator Gardens. The free one is a great way to get a feel for the place before diving into those. The hike is free, and it's held at Lakeside Nature Center in Kansas City.
