A hands-on workshop to help students and families understand and complete the FAFSA, with a chance to win a scholarship.
FAFSA 101 is coming to the Lucile H. Bluford Branch on Sunday, October 18, as part of a series of workshops the Kansas City Public Library is running across the city this month. If you're a student or a parent staring down the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and feeling a bit stuck, this is exactly the kind of thing you want to show up for.
It's a hands-on workshop, which is the key part here. Rather than just listening to someone talk about the form, you'll be working through it. The goal is to help students and their families understand the FAFSA and actually get it completed. If you've been putting it off because the paperwork feels like a mountain, having a dedicated time and a bit of guidance can make a real difference in just getting it done.
And there's an extra incentive: everyone who participates gets a chance to win a scholarship. It's a nice bonus for taking the afternoon to tackle something that usually feels like a chore.

This particular session is at the Lucile H. Bluford Branch at 12 PM, but it's one of several the library is hosting throughout October. If that time or location doesn't work for you, there are other options: the Irene H. Ruiz Branch hosts one at 4 PM, the North-East Branch at 5 PM, and the Waldo Branch at 3 PM. You can pick the one that fits your schedule best. The Lucile H. Bluford session is this Sunday, October 18, at 12 PM.
