A 35mm screening of the comedy film Ernest Scared Stupid at the historic Screenland Armour Theatre as part of the SHOCKtober festival.
Screenland Armour Theatre is running Ernest Scared Stupid on 35mm this Sunday, October 18, at 3:45 PM. It's part of their SHOCKtober festival, a 31-day Halloween program of scary and freaky movies that runs through the whole month. The 35mm format means the film is projected from a physical reel rather than a digital file, which is a rare thing to catch in a theater these days.
Screenland Armour is the oldest historic independent theater in Kansas City, one of the few vintage cinemas still operating in the city. They program a mix of new mainstream, independent, foreign, and classic films. The Armour Road location houses two uniquely designed theaters, more than ten vintage arcade games, and a rotating tap of around 100 craft beers.
If you're planning to make a habit of the festival, there's a SHOCKtober Punch Card to pick up inside a limited-edition 40-page anniversary booklet filled with local artwork and essays. The card tracks your attendance and unlocks rewards as you go, so it's a good way to keep a record of what you've seen throughout the month.
