The 52nd season of the historic Edge of Hell haunted house, a walk-through attraction exploring the consequences of life's choices with phobias and a five-story spiral slide.
Edge of Hell is back for its 2026 season at The Edge of Hell Haunted House, 1300 W. 12th St. in the West Bottoms. It's a walk-through that's been running since 1975, and this year marks its 52nd season—the longest-running haunted attraction in the country, which has earned it the nickname 'Granddaddy of haunts' among the community. Full Moon Productions is behind it, the same team that puts on The Beast and Macabre Cinema.
The experience follows a narrative about the consequences of the choices we make in life, leading you from heaven down to hell. Along the way, you're run through a gauntlet of phobias: pitch-black caves, tight passages, snake pits, and rat-infested crypts. The trip ends with a five-story spiral slide that drops you into hell, where the devil himself is waiting. It's a classic walk-through that leans into the claustrophobic and the dark, so if tight spaces or pitch-black rooms aren't your thing, keep that in mind before you step in.
Kansas City has a long history as a capital of haunted houses—more than thirteen were operating here back in the 1980s—and this is one of the few that's stayed open since the early days. It's a good place to start if you're just getting into the local haunt scene.
