Concert by the alternative rock band Dogstar, fronted by Bret Domrose, at The Truman venue in Kansas City.
Dogstar play The Truman on Thursday, October 15, with The Backfires opening. It's a Los Angeles band that's back on the road, and they're bringing their alternative rock sound to Kansas City for the night.
If you're not familiar with the lineup, Dogstar is fronted by Bret Domrose on vocals and guitar, with Robert Mailhouse on drums and Keanu Reeves on bass. Since their reunion, they've put out Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, and that's where the current set draws from. They describe their sound as a blend of alternative and grunge rock, and the live show mixes that new material with fan favorites from their earlier records, so you'll hear the new stuff alongside songs they've been playing for years.
They've built their following on an energetic stage presence and heartfelt lyrics, and that's what they're bringing to The Truman. The venue is a general-admission standing room on the main floor, with elevated balcony sections if you'd rather watch from above. The Backfires open the night, so there are two bands on the bill.
