An open forum for adults to discuss all topics related to death and dying; held every 4th Tuesday of the month.
Death Café returns to the Kansas City Public Library, Southeast Branch on Tuesday, October 27, from 4 to 5 PM. It's an open forum for adults to talk about death and dying—basically, a space to bring up the things that usually get pushed to the side in normal conversation. If you've ever wanted to talk through your thoughts on mortality, how we handle loss, or what it means to face the end, this is where that happens.
There's no set agenda or lecture here. It's a conversation, and the floor is open to anyone who wants to join in. The organizers describe it as welcoming to all views and beliefs, so you don't need to have a specific philosophy or a religious background to fit in. You can lead with a question, share a story, or just listen to what others are saying. It's a low-pressure way to talk about a heavy subject with a group of strangers who are all there for the same reason.
One thing to keep in mind: this is not a bereavement group. It's not a place for grief counseling or professional support, so if you're looking for that, this isn't the right spot. It's more of a general discussion about death as a topic rather than a support circle for people who have recently lost someone. The sessions are aimed at adults 18 and over, and light refreshments are provided, so you can have something to snack on while you talk.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Kansas City and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's held every fourth Tuesday of the month, so if this one doesn't work for you, there'll be another one coming up soon. The session runs from 4 to 5 PM in the Southeast Branch conference room, and an RSVP is required to attend.
