Blues and roots performance by Danielle Nicole Band, headlined by Danielle Nicole, within Brandon Miller's 6th Annual Bonzo Blowout series.
Danielle Nicole Band plays Knuckleheads on Friday, October 30, as part of Brandon Miller's 6th Annual Bonzo Blowout. It's a hometown show for Danielle Nicole, who's one of Kansas City's own blues and roots artists. She plays bass and sings, and she's been a fixture in the city's music scene for years.
She started out in Trampled Under Foot, the sibling blues band that took first place at the International Blues Challenge, before stepping out to front her own project. She picked up the bass in her early twenties and made some history in 2012 as the first woman ever nominated in the Instrumentalist ~ Bass category at The Blues Foundation's Blues Music Awards. Since then, she's picked up seven Blues Music Awards in total and was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
Her solo records have held their own on the charts. Wolf Den, recorded in New Orleans with Anders Osborne, peaked at number two on the Billboard Blues charts in 2015. Cry No More followed in 2017, earning a Grammy nomination for Contemporary Blues Album and two Blues Music Awards. Her latest, The Love You Bleed, came out in 2024 on Forty Below Records and was produced by Tony Braunagel.
