Calvin Arsenia celebrates ten years of music with his harp, voice and theatrical performances at Folly Theater, joined by local musicians.
Calvin Arsenia is back at the Folly Theater on Tuesday, October 13, at 8 PM. It's a homecoming of sorts: ten years ago, he premiered Catastrophe at recordBar on Grand Boulevard, and this show marks a decade of songwriting since then. He's returning to the Folly with a gathering of fellow Kansas City musicians to look back across those ten years, pairing familiar songs with new arrangements.
If you've followed him for a while, you know the setup. Arsenia—who's been called "The Darling Harpist"—combines a virtuosic harp, a classically trained voice, and a theatrical flair that carries through his live shows. He drifts between indie, jazz, and electronic music, often with the kind of rare harmonies and arrangements that set him apart from the usual singer-songwriter fare. The night is billed as a celebration of ten years of his music, and he'll be joined on stage by some of the city's finest musicians.
He's a Kansas City native, and the city has taken notice: The Pitch has voted him Kansas City's Best Musician for eight consecutive years, from 2018 through 2025. His work has moved between concert halls, fashion runways, theaters, recordings, and film, including the feature-length Summer in Hindsight, for which he contributed original music and performance.
