Spoken word poetry night with special guest presenter Louis Moten, hosted by Glenn North, with a poetry slam.
BRW Spoken Word Poetry Live is coming to the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center on Wednesday, October 28, for a night of spoken word poetry in Kansas City. The evening's main feature is Louis Moten, who'll be taking the stage to present his work. Glenn North is hosting the whole thing, so he'll be the one guiding the night and introducing the performers.
Along with the featured presentation, there's a poetry slam as part of the program. If you're not familiar with how those work, a slam is a competition where poets perform their own original work and are judged on both the writing and the delivery. It puts the night in a different gear than a standard reading, with the competitive element adding a bit of energy to the room.

Between Moten's set, the slam, and North hosting, the evening covers a few different ways of hearing poetry in one sitting. It's all happening at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center on Wednesday, October 28.
