A 1.5-hour guided walking tour blending true crime stories and ghost legends in the Brookside neighbourhood, starting and ending at the John Wornall House Museum.
The Brookside History and Horrors Walk returns to the John Wornall House Museum on Saturday, November 7, at 10 AM. It's a 1.5-hour guided walking tour run by the Wornall Majors House Museums that takes you through the shadowy side of Brookside, one of Kansas City's most charming neighborhoods. The whole thing starts and ends at the museum, so you're back where you began by the time it wraps.
What it does is blend true crime with ghost stories. You'll hear about the darker side of the area's history—organized crime, kidnappings, shocking murders, and a few ghosts along the way. It's not just one thing; the tour weaves together the documented crime and the local legends, so you get both the factual and the supernatural versions of what happened in the neighborhood.
If you're worried about the weather, a light drizzle won't stop it. The tour goes on unless the weather gets truly bad, in which case it's rescheduled for a later date. It's a morning walk, so you'll be out in the neighborhood while it's still light, which might make the ghost stories land a bit differently than they would at midnight.
