Concert by the indie pop band Bright Eyes, led by Conor Oberst, performing songs from their album Lullaby for the Working Class.
Bright Eyes play The Truman on Saturday, October 17, with Lullaby for the Working Class opening. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
If you're not familiar with the name, Bright Eyes started in 1995 in an Omaha basement as a recording moniker for then-15-year-old Conor Oberst and producer Mike Mogis. For years it was essentially Oberst's solo project, but in 2006 Mogis and composer, arranger, and naturalist Nate Walcott became full members. Over the two-plus decades since, the band has put out a succession of time-capsule LPs and built a mature, narratively cohesive discography that's left its mark on pop culture.
That reach shows up in the artists who've covered them: Lorde, The Killers, Mac Miller, Phoebe Bridgers, Jason Mraz, and beabadoobee have all taken on their songs, and rappers like Young Thug and Lil Peep have sampled them. It's a long run from a basement in Omaha to being referenced across pop and hip-hop, and that history sits behind the set they'll be playing here.

On the practical side, the show is all ages, so you can bring whoever you want. The Truman is a cashless venue, meaning they take debit or credit cards only, so leave the cash at home. Bright Eyes has also partnered with PLUS1 for this run, with $1 from every ticket going to the Poison Oak Project, which advances equity for LGBTQ+ people with a focus on the trans community. Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM.
