A meditation and breathwork series led by Amber to support relaxation, mindfulness and resilience, with all experience levels welcome.
Amber leads the next session of Breathe. Rest. Belong. at the Southeast Branch Library on Saturday, October 17, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's part of a meditation and breathwork series where the whole point is to get a handle on your own breathing and pick up a few simple techniques for relaxation, mindfulness, and resilience—the kind of practical skills you can actually use throughout the day, not just while you're sitting in a class. All experience levels are welcome, so you don't need to have done any of this before to join in.
The session is held at the Southeast Branch, which sits across from Swope Park and the Kansas City Zoo. It's a branch known for some particularly strong collections in African-American literature, urban fiction, and urban Christian fiction, as well as children's folklore and animals. You'll also find jazz, blues, and gospel music on compact disc. The building itself has a bit of a story: Southeast High School originally housed the collection, and library staff later operated out of a kiosk in the Landing Mall before moving to the current site. An extensive 2018 renovation added new meeting rooms, a children's area, and the Goppert Media Center, which is home to the KC Digital Media Lab.
