A meditation and breathwork series led by Amber to support relaxation, mindfulness and resilience, welcoming all experience levels.
Amber leads the next session of Breathe. Rest. Belong. at the Southeast Branch Library on Saturday, October 10, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's part of a meditation and breathwork series that runs monthly through the library system, so if you miss this one, there's usually another coming up soon.
The session is built around two things: meditation and breathwork. Amber guides the group through simple techniques meant to help with relaxation, mindfulness, and resilience—the kind of practical skills you can actually use during a regular day, not just while you're sitting on a mat. All experience levels are welcome, so you don't need to have a practice already to join in.
The venue is the Southeast Branch, located at 6242 Swope Parkway in Kansas City, MO 64130. It's a spot with its own history: the library is housed in the former Southeast High School, and before moving here, the staff worked out of a kiosk in the Landing Mall. A major renovation in 2018 added new meeting rooms, a children's area, and the Goppert Media Center, which is home to the KC Digital Media Lab. It sits across from Swope Park and the Kansas City Zoo, and the branch is known for strong collections in African-American literature, urban fiction, urban Christian fiction, children's folklore and animals, and jazz, blues and gospel music on compact disc.
