Electronic music night featuring Bobcat Attack, Charlie Brut and Vena Cova, presented by the KC Synthesizer Collective.
Bobcat Attack plays Sound Bite at Warehouse on Broadway on Friday, October 16, with Charlie Brut and Vena Cova opening. The night is presented by the KC Synthesizer Collective, and Bobcat Attack is the pseudonym of Kansas City electronic musician Nathan Reusch, who builds his sets around a modular synthesizer.
Reusch has been making electronic music since the early 2000s, back when he was influenced by emo and punk. That early period led to opening slots for Taking Back Sunday, Mew, and Coheed and Cambria. In 2003 he founded the indie label The Record Machine, and in 2011 he launched Middle of the Map Fest, which has since become a staple of the city's music scene.
The pandemic brought him back to the Bobcat Attack name and to his synths. He joined the KC Synthesizer Collective, and after a year with them, he's set to release new material through Les Bonbons Electriques, a joint venture with Mark Ronning of Pool Culture and Mr. Golden Sun. He describes his sound as bridging ambient, dub-techno, and house.
