Blues night out featuring Southern Avenue, The Kent Burnside Band and Lightnin' Malcolm at Knuckleheads.
Southern Avenue headline Knuckleheads on Saturday, October 24, as part of Blues in the Bottoms, the Kansas City Blues Society's fourth annual blues night out. The society bills the evening as bringing blues music the way the local audience likes it, with a profusion of styles on one bill. Southern Avenue share the stage with The Kent Burnside Band and Lightnin' Malcolm.
Southern Avenue are fronted by vocalist and songwriter Tierinii Jackson and driven by the guitar work and songwriting of Ori Naftaly. They describe their sound as a fusion of Memphis soul, blues, gospel, and rock & roll. Their 2025 Alligator Records release, Family, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album, and the group was named Living Blues' 2025 Band of the Year. They also picked up several 2026 Blues Music Award nominations.
It's a band that has played major stages around the world, from Willie Nelson's Outlaw Tour to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Rolling Stone called them a true showcase of the soul of Memphis.
