Adrian Bartholomew's Piano Prelude

Adrian Bartholomew starts a new residency at Uptown Lounge on Friday, October 9, and he'll be there every Friday and Saturday night through December 18. It's a long run, so you've got plenty of weekends to work with if the first one doesn't fit your schedule.

Bartholomew's sets are wide-ranging. He pulls from classics, modern hits, and classical masterpieces, so the music shifts depending on the night. The whole thing is built to be dynamic and interactive: guests can request songs through a live request app, which means the set is shaped by the room as it happens. If you're in the mood for something specific, you can put it in and hear it played; if you'd rather just listen, you can let the room decide.

Because it's a residency and not a one-off, the set changes from one night to the next. The requests keep it from feeling like the same show every time, and since it runs every Friday and Saturday through the autumn, you can drop in whenever it works for you. If you're a regular, you'll probably hear a different mix of those classics, hits, and classical pieces each time you go back.

Uptown Lounge is at 3400 Main St. in Kansas City, and Bartholomew plays from 7 PM to 10 PM. The residency runs every Friday and Saturday night through December 18.
