A family-friendly dining package with a pirate show, boat ride and dinner at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium.
A Pirate's Feast is running on Friday and Saturday nights at The Boathouse inside the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium through October 24, as part of the zoo's GloWild season. It's a dining package that takes over the Boathouse, which sits along the waterfront in the zoo's Africa section. A crew of pirates joins the tables, and the main event is an interactive pirate performance with plenty of audience participation that fills the room before guests head out to explore the glowing displays of GloWild: Hidden Treasure.
The package bundles a few different things into one evening. There's a pirate-themed buffet, with a kid-friendly Lil Buccaneers Table for the younger ones, and a cash bar serving cocktails and mocktails. If the weather holds, you also get a scenic Kenyan Cruise boat ride. Between the Tropics Event Pavilion and the Boathouse, there's complimentary transport to get you from one to the other. Once the dinner and show are done, you've already got admission to GloWild, so you can spend the rest of the night walking through the light installations.
It's built as a family-friendly night, with the buffet and the show geared toward all ages. The zoo describes it as a one-of-a-kind experience for young buccaneers and seasoned treasure hunters alike, and the interactive performance means you're part of the action rather than just watching from the table. If you're planning to go, keep in mind that the boat ride is weather permitting.
