A hands-on class where participants learn to design and print items using Bambu 3D printers at the Irene H. Ruiz Branch.
The Irene H. Ruiz Branch of the Kansas City Public Library is hosting a 3D Printing Class on Wednesday, October 14, from 5 PM to 7 PM. It's a hands-on session where you'll learn how to design and print your own items using the library's Bambu 3D printers, so you'll walk away with something you actually made rather than just watching someone else do it.
If you've never touched a 3D printer, this is a good place to start. The class covers both ends of the process: the design part, where you figure out what you want to make, and the printing part, where the machine brings it to life. You'll be working with Bambu printers, which are known for being fast and reliable, and you'll get to handle them yourself throughout the evening.
The class is held at the Irene H. Ruiz Biblioteca de las Americas, the Spanish-language branch of the Kansas City Public Library, located at 2017 West Pennway Street in Kansas City, MO 64108. The branch has a long history that goes back to 1911, when it started as the Switzer Branch Library. It became the West Branch Library in 1926 and moved several times before opening at its current location on September 15, 2001, when it was renamed in honor of Irene Ruiz, a former librarian. Today, it's the library's Spanish-language branch, with a wide range of Spanish-language materials and unique resources on Latin American culture, bilingual staff, and services like notary by appointment, passports, and voter registration.
