A BRW dance event with 2-step and line dancing, hosted by De Barker and featuring DJ LS Flash.
De Barker is hosting 2-Steppin' in the Afternoon at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center on Saturday, October 17. It's a dance afternoon that puts two styles on the floor: two-step and line dancing. If you're into either, you'll find both here, and if you've only ever done one, it's a good chance to try the other without having to commit to a full class.
Two-step is the partner dance—the one where you glide across the floor in a steady, rhythmic pattern—and line dancing is the social side, where everyone follows the same choreographed steps in rows. The two together mean the afternoon works whether you show up with a partner or just on your own. You can spend some time with the partner work and then switch over to the line dances, where you don't need anyone but yourself to get moving.
Behind the music is DJ LS Flash, who'll be handling the sound for the session. The whole thing is hosted by De Barker, who's the one bringing the two styles together under one roof for the afternoon. It's a straightforward setup: the music keeps going, the dancing stays the focus, and you can move between the two styles as the afternoon rolls on.

It runs from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, 3700 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64130. Since it's a mid-afternoon slot on a Saturday, you've still got the rest of your evening open after you've had your fill of the dance floor.
