Edge of Hell follows a dark route through purgatory, heaven and hell, with tight spaces, blacked-out mazes, live rats and a five-story spiral slide. The Beast takes a more open-ended approach, sending visitors through scenes built around phobias, darkness and sudden appearances rather than a fixed path. Its attractions include the Werewolf Forest, a swamp setting and a four-story slide. A Beast visit averages about 45 minutes, while Edge of Hell lists a tour time of about 30 minutes. Children under 12 need an adult with them at either attraction.
Worlds of Fun offers a different kind of Halloween night. Halloween Haunt 2026 runs on selected Friday and Saturday nights through October 31, plus Sunday, October 25. Saturdays begin with the family-friendly Tricks and Treats event until 6 PM, followed by the nighttime haunt. This year’s additions include the scare zones Mr. Tickle’s Sideshow Alley, Invasion and Necropolis, along with the new Spellbound show. The park also has haunted mazes, rides after dark and seasonal food and drinks. Guests 17 and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21; costumes, masks and full makeup are not allowed during Halloween Haunt.
For a quieter evening, Kansas City’s temporary pop-ups put the focus on themed drinks and atmosphere. The Cloven Hoof at Tom’s Town Distilling Co. runs Wednesdays through Saturdays through October 31, with a hospital-horror setting inside The Vault and reservations required. In the Historic Northeast, Amuck, Amuck, Amuck! at PH Coffee & Public House brings a Hocus Pocus-inspired theme on select nights from October 9–30. BOOlevard takes over Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Beer Hall from October 14–31, while Practically Magic at Frost Frozen Bar in Westport runs through November 1; its $10 reservation includes a complimentary snack. The Black Lantern Lounge at The Elms Hotel & Spa, Hollywood Horror Spookeasy at The Common Tiger in Mission and The Monarch Manor at The Monarch Bar round out the pop-up lineup, with schedules varying by venue.
Families have several daytime choices, including Brick-or-Treat at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City, Pumpkin Fest at Faulkner’s Ranch, Pumpkin Hollow at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead and the Enchanted Forest at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park. Other options include the Trick-or-Treat Trail at Stagecoach Park, JCPRD JamBOOree, Liberty Fall Fest and Waldo Fall Fest. For a more theatrical night, Dinner with the Vampire takes place at the Cascade Hotel on October 23–25 and October 30–31. The 21-and-over, 90-minute experience includes a grazing feast, table wine, live music, dance and burlesque; tickets are $130 for The Vampire’s Feast or $169 for the VIP Inner Circle, before fees.
