30-minute museum tour through the Garage Area and Gasoline Alley to the top of Victory Podium, where the Indianapolis 500 winner celebrates with milk.
The Victory Podium tour is running at the IMS Museum on Wednesday, October 28, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. It's a 30-minute journey the museum puts on when the track is unavailable, and it's designed to show you exactly what the winner sees on race day.
The tour takes you through the garage area and Gasoline Alley, the legendary stretch of garages that lines the pit lane, before ending atop the Victory Podium itself. That's where the Indianapolis 500 winner celebrates with the customary bottle of milk, so you're standing right where the celebration happens. You'll need museum admission to take the tour, which is a good thing because there's plenty to see around it.
The museum was recently reimagined and reopened with 40,000 square feet of immersive exhibit space. That includes a lower level that used to be restricted to select tours and a new mezzanine with artifacts on display for the first time. TIME named it one of the World's Greatest Places for 2026. It stays open 363 days a year, though it switches to winter hours from November 2 through February 28. The museum also partners with Kulture City to be Sensory Inclusive™, so sensory bags with soundproof headphones, fidget toys, and tinted glasses are available if you need them.
