A full-length tribute to Billy Joel's songbook performed by jazz pianist Tony DeSare with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Pops.
Tony DeSare brings The Music of Billy Joel to the Hilbert Circle Theatre on Friday, February 5, 2027. It's a full-length tribute to Billy Joel's songbook, presented as part of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Pops series. DeSare handles both vocals and piano, and Jack Everly is the Principal Pops Conductor for the evening.
The set is built around full orchestrations of Joel's most well-known songs: "Only the Good Die Young," "Just the Way You Are," "Piano Man," "You May Be Right," "Movin Out," and "My Life." It's a long program, with one 20-minute intermission in the middle.
DeSare is an American jazz pianist and songwriter. His discography includes Want You (2005), Last First Kiss (2007), Piano (2013), Christmas Home (2015), Lush Life (2019), and Radio Show (2013). He brings that same vocal and piano style to this tribute, with the orchestra filling out the sound around him.
