The Smashing Pumpkins play Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a Mellon Collie 30th-anniversary set and a survey of their catalogue on The Rats In A Cage Tour.
The Smashing Pumpkins bring The Rats In A Cage Tour to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday, October 20, with the show starting at 8 PM. It's one of the band's most ambitious live setups to date, built around two distinct sets rather than a single run-through. The first half is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the 1995 RIAA Diamond-certified double album, played in a highly theatrical setting. Frontman Billy Corgan says staging a Mellon Collie-themed show is something he's been discussing for over a decade.
The second set pulls from nearly four decades of the band's catalogue, reaching from their 1991 debut Gish all the way to Aghori Mhori Mei. Between the two, you'll get a look at the record that defined their mid-nineties peak and a broader sweep of where they've been since. The tour runs from September through November 2026, and this Indianapolis date falls right in the middle of that window.
This particular anniversary has been a long-running affair. Before the tour hit the road, the album got a deluxe vinyl reissue, and its hits were reimagined in a production with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. There were also collaborations with Vosges Haut-Chocolat and Erewhon. The band itself formed in Chicago in 1988, has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, and has won two GRAMMY Awards.
