Storytime and open playtime for babies, toddlers and preschoolers with their caregivers, presented by Kid Central.
Tales 'n Play Storytime is back at the Central Library on Friday, November 13, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's presented by Kid Central, an Indianapolis Public Library program that pairs storytime with open playtime for young children and their caregivers. The session is aimed at kids aged 0 to 5, which covers the whole range from babies and toddlers up to preschoolers, so it works whether you've got a crawler or a kid who's already talking their head off.
The format is pretty straightforward: a storytime followed by open play. The story part is the anchor, and the playtime lets the kids burn off some energy afterward, which is usually the part they're most into anyway. It's designed for you to hang out with your little ones while they get to be around other kids their age. And since it's a library program, it's free.
If you haven't spent much time there, the Central Library is the hub of the whole Indianapolis Public Library system. The original 1917 building was designed by Paul Cret and built of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, and the six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007. It's a big, bright space that's easy to find downtown.
