Children's storytime session for ages 2 to 6 and their caregivers at the Wayne Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library.
Professor Watermelon brings storytime to the Wayne Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Thursday, October 29, from 10:30 to 11:15 AM. It's a session for kids aged 2 to 6 and their caregivers, and it's made possible by the Everwise Foundation through gifts to the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
If you're not familiar with the branch, it's at 198 South Girls School Road, and it's been a part of the neighborhood for a long time. The Wayne Branch first opened in December 1969 as a storefront in a shopping center at 7341 Rockville Road. That storefront was enlarged in 1973, and in 1984, the library moved into the permanent 13,500-square-foot building it still occupies today.
It's a space that's grown with the community. A $1.1 million renovation in 2020 added more seating and activity space, study rooms, and a quiet reading area, all while keeping the split design of separate children's and adult wings. That layout makes it easy to find your way to the children's side for a morning like this.
