Free storytime session with stories, songs and rhymes followed by playtime for babies and toddlers up to age 3 at the Southport Branch.
Storytime at Southport is back at the Southport Branch on Wednesday, December 9, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. It's a session for babies and toddlers up to age 3, and you'll need to attend with an adult.
The hour is split into two halves. The first part is an active class of stories, songs, and rhymes—the kind of thing that gets the little ones moving and listening. Once that wraps up, the session opens up for socializing and playtime with age-appropriate toys, so the kids can burn off some energy and you can chat with other parents. It's a good way to get out of the house on a weekday morning and let your toddler interact with other kids their own age.
The Southport Branch itself has a bit of history in the neighborhood. It started in 1967 as a small storefront in the Madison Square Shopping Center, and in 1974 it moved into its current 15,700-square-foot building on East Stop 11 Road. Even before that move, a group of Perry Township residents raised more than $5,000 to provide additional books for the new library, so the branch has been a community effort since the beginning.
