Storytime for babies and toddlers from birth to age three, with an adult, featuring stories, songs, rhymes and movement.
Babies & Toddlers Storytime is back at the Irvington Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, December 2, from 10:30 to 11:15 AM. It's a session for babies and toddlers from birth through age three, and they attend with an adult. The program is built around stories, songs, rhymes, and movement, so it's more of an active half-hour than a sit-still-and-listen kind of thing. There's no registration required, so you can just show up.
The Irvington Branch has a long history in the neighborhood. It's served the community since 1903, when the Bona Thompson Library was donated to Butler College and became a public library branch. After relocations in 1914 and 1921, a new facility opened on East Washington Street in 1956 and was named for Hilton U. Brown, one of Irvington's distinguished citizens. The Brown Branch closed in 2001 to make way for the current 16,000-square-foot Irvington Branch, which opened later that year. It's a neighborhood fixture that's seen a few different versions of itself over the decades.

If you're bringing a little one, the format is straightforward: stories, songs, rhymes, and movement, all aimed at the birth-to-three crowd. Since it's designed for babies and toddlers to attend with an adult, it's as much about the shared experience as it is about the reading. No registration is required, so you don't need to sign up in advance. You'll find it at the Irvington Branch, 5625 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219, on Wednesday, December 2, from 10:30 to 11:15 AM.
