Storytime at Glendale - Toddlers

Storytime at Glendale - Toddlers is back at the Glendale Branch on Wednesday, December 16, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. It's a full hour of books, songs, dancing, crafts and fun for children aged 2 to 4 and their grown-up. If you've got a toddler in that range, it's a good way to spend a mid-morning with them.

The session is part of the Indianapolis Public Library's children's programming, and it's free to attend. The hour moves through a few different things—reading, music, movement and a craft—so it keeps the little ones engaged without staying on one thing too long. It's designed for kids to be active rather than just sitting still, which is usually the only way a room full of toddlers actually works.

If you haven't been to the Glendale Branch lately, it's in a new spot. The library has served the Glendale and Broad Ripple community since 1930, with the first stand-alone building opening in 1949 and a larger branch moving to Broad Ripple Park in 1986. The original Glendale Branch opened in 2000 inside Glendale Mall—the country's first full-service library in a major shopping mall—and in 2024, a new 24,800-square-foot branch opened at the site of the former John Strange Elementary School. That's where you'll find this session.

One more thing to keep in mind: the library notes that sensory items can be requested during their programs, so if your child needs something specific to be comfortable, just let them know. They also ask that you contact the branch in advance about any other accommodations you might need.
