Free toddler storytime for children aged 2 to 4 with books, songs, dancing, crafts and playtime at the Glendale Branch.
Storytime at Glendale is back at the Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, December 9, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. It's a session for toddlers aged 2 to 4 and their grown-up, and it's free to attend.
The hour is built around a mix of books, songs, dancing, and crafts, with playtime and interaction following the main program. It's the kind of thing where the kids get to move around and make something, and then there's space for them to just play and socialize afterward. If you've got a toddler in that age range, it's a good way to get them out of the house on a weekday morning.
The session is held at the Glendale Branch, which sits at 3660 East 62nd Street in Indianapolis. The branch serves the Glendale and Broad Ripple community, an area that's had library service at various sites since 1930. The neighborhood's first stand-alone library opened in 1949, and a larger branch followed in Broad Ripple Park in 1986. The original Glendale Branch opened in Glendale Mall in 2000, making it the first full-service library in a major shopping mall in the United States. In 2024, a new 24,800-square-foot branch opened on the site of the former John Strange Elementary School, which is where this storytime takes place.
