Ryan Ahlwardt: Crying in the Canyon Release Concert

Ryan Ahlwardt plays The Cabaret on Friday, October 30, for the release concert of his new album, Crying in the Canyon. It's a night built around the new record, and the set will lean on it.

The album's title gives you a good starting point for what to expect. Crying in the Canyon is a cinematic blend of Americana nostalgia, and that's exactly how the show is being framed. It's the kind of music that works as well on a long drive through the countryside as it does in a room like The Cabaret, and the release concert is the first time these songs will be played live.

As the main feature of the evening, Ahlwardt will be the sole focus of the bill. The set will be built around the new material, so you'll hear the album's songs as they were intended, rather than tucked into a larger lineup. If you've been following his work, this is the night the new record finally makes its way from the studio to the stage.

It's a Friday night in downtown Indianapolis, and the show falls on October 30, the night before Halloween. The Cabaret is located within the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts, so you'll find it right in the heart of the city. If you're planning to go, keep in mind that the concert is on a Friday, so you'll want to account for the usual downtown traffic. The show is on October 30, and Ryan Ahlwardt is the main feature.
