Gospel singer Russ Taff plays the Shelton Auditorium at Butler Arts Center with Steve Taylor on his The Almost Farewell Tour.
Russ Taff brings The Almost Farewell Tour to the Shelton Auditorium at Butler Arts Center on Tuesday, October 20, at 7:30 PM. He's not alone on stage: his longtime friend and collaborator Steve Taylor is with him on every date of the tour.
If you're not familiar with the name, Taff is a Grammy and Dove Award-winning gospel singer, born in Farmersville, California, and a three-time GMA Hall of Fame inductee. He first made his mark with The Imperials and the Gaither Vocal Band, and he's known for songs like "Praise the Lord" and "We Will Stand."
Taylor's role goes beyond the stage, too. He executive produced Taff's album Cover Story, and the live show takes that title literally. Along with Taff's own material, the set includes renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, U2, Prince, Simon & Garfunkel, and Depeche Mode. It's a wide-ranging list of covers that pulls from a few different decades and genres, so the night isn't just a trip through his gospel catalog.
