16th edition of the downtown criterium race formerly known as the Mass Ave Criterium, held in the Bottleworks District with a street-festival atmosphere.
Momentum Indy returns to the Bottleworks District from July 16 to 18, 2027, for its 16th edition. It's a downtown criterium race, which means the course is a short, closed-circuit loop that riders lap over and over, and this year it's taking place in the Bottleworks District in downtown Indianapolis.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, it's because it used to be the Mass Ave Criterium. For years that was its home, and it's one of the longest-running urban bike races in the Midwest. This is the 16th running of the event, and the move to the Bottleworks District has changed the whole vibe: instead of just a race, it's now a full weekend of criterium racing with a street-festival atmosphere around it. The racing happens over three days, July 16, 17, and 18, so you can drop in for one afternoon or hang around for the whole thing.
Because it's a criterium, the action stays in one place rather than stretching across the city, which makes it easy to watch. You can see the riders coming around the corners and fighting for position lap after lap, and since it's set up as a festival, there's more to do between heats than just standing on the curb. The organizers are expecting crowds to exceed 20,000 people over the weekend, so it'll be a busy one.

It's free to spectate, so you don't need tickets to watch the racing. The whole thing runs from Friday, July 16, through Sunday, July 18, in the Bottleworks District.
