Book-themed play session for caregivers and children up to age 5 at the Wayne Library branch.
Meet & Play kicks off at the Wayne Library on Thursday, October 22, and it's a session built for caregivers and children up to age 5. The whole thing is book-themed play, so it's less about sitting still and listening to a story and more about moving around and playing with the ideas that come out of one. If you've got a little one who can't quite sit through a full picture book yet, this is exactly the kind of thing that works—they get to be active while still hanging out with books.
It's a caregiver-and-child setup, meaning you're right there in the mix with your kid rather than dropping them off. That makes it a good one for the younger end of the age range, too, since you can help them navigate the activities. And because it's geared toward kids up to age 5, you'll find a range of ages in the room, from toddlers just finding their feet to preschoolers who've already got a favorite story. It's as much about the other parents and kids as it is about the books themselves.
The session runs from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, an hour that fits right into a morning routine without taking over the whole day. It's also not a one-off: Meet & Play repeats every Thursday from October 22 through December 17, so if you can't make the first one, you've got plenty of chances to catch it later in the fall. You can drop in once or make it a weekly thing.
