Footlite Musicals' production of the musical Mary Poppins, with Bert, the Banks family and Mary Poppins on their doorstep in 1910.
Footlite Musicals is bringing Mary Poppins to the Hedback Theatre at 1847 North Alabama Street, with performances running from November 20 through December 13, 2026. It's a long run—shows go Thursday through Sunday, with 7:30 PM starts Thursday to Saturday and a 2:30 PM matinee on Sundays. There's no show on Thanksgiving, November 26, so keep that in mind if you're planning a holiday weekend trip.
The story is set in England in 1910 and opens with Bert introducing the audience to the Banks family. The kids, Jane and Michael, have sent plenty of nannies packing, but then Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. With a mix of magic and common sense, she takes them on a series of adventures and teaches the whole family to value each other again—and the grown-ups learn something too, when she tells them "Anything can happen if you let it."
This version is based on P.L. Travers' stories and the Walt Disney film, with a book by Julian Fellowes. The music is a blend of old and new: the original songs and lyrics are by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman, with new songs and additional music and lyrics by Anthony Drewe and George Stiles, co-created by Cameron Mackintosh. Ellen Vander Missen takes the title role, with Patrick Dowell as Bert, Daniel Draves as George Banks, and Nina Stilabower as Winifred Banks. Violette Miller and Weston Curts play Jane and Michael, and Jennifer Simms is Miss Andrew. The supporting cast includes Ada Kirchhoff as the Bird Woman, Havyn Pickens as Mrs. Corry, Susie Hills Robertson as Mrs. Brill, and Cameron Grant as Ay. Zac Speer doubles as Admiral Boom and the Bank Chairman, while Alexander Holloway plays Neleus, Tara Cherry is Miss Lark, Jim McCabe is the Park Keeper, Eric VanVeelen is Von Hussler, Danny Roberds is John Northbrook, Melissa Ritchie is Katie Nanna, and Bianca Cureton is Miss Smythe. Louis Soria plays the Messenger, and the ensemble features Renee Callahan, Annie Libs, Bethany Rainbolt, Linda Thomson, Alex Vasquez, and Cami Zook. Josh Vander Missen directs, with choreography by Trish Roberds and Amy Matters, vocal direction by Jill Stewart, and music direction by Meg Benedict.
