Concert by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, led by Matthew Kraemer, with a world premiere by James Lee III, Anna Clyne's 'Color Field' and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.
The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra is back at the Schrott Center for the Arts on Saturday, March 13, 2027, with a program they've titled Spectrum. It's part of their 43rd season, which they're calling Story Lines, and it puts a world premiere right up front.
That premiere is Chamber Symphony, a new piece by James Lee III that the ICO commissioned specifically for this. It's paired with Color Field by Anna Clyne and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major. The whole thing is led by Music Director Matthew Kraemer, who's conducted the orchestra since taking the helm.
The ICO is the orchestra-in-residence at the Schrott Center and the Butler Arts Center, and they broadcast a weekly radio program on WFYI 90.1. Their mission is to keep music written for small orchestras alive through professional performances, educational programs, and community engagement, with a goal of reflecting all segments of the Indianapolis community. They also collaborate with local arts organizations like the American Pianists Association, the International Violin Competition, and the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.
