Gratitude-themed wish-along storytime for children ages 3 to 7 and their caregivers at the Irvington Branch.
The Irvington Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library is hosting an I am Thankful Wish-Along Storytime on Thursday, November 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. It's a gratitude-themed session led by Mr. Ryan, aimed at children ages 3 to 7 and their caregivers.
The "wish-along" part of the title gives you a good sense of what to expect: it's a storytime built around the idea of being thankful, with the kids getting to participate rather than just sitting and listening. If you've got a little one in that preschool-to-first-grade range, it's a low-pressure way to spend a Thursday morning.
The branch itself has a long history in the neighborhood. It's served Irvington since 1903, starting as the Bona Thompson Library, which was donated to Butler College before becoming a public branch. It moved a couple of times—once in 1914 and again in 1921—before a new facility opened on East Washington Street in 1956. That building was named for Hilton U. Brown, one of Irvington's distinguished citizens. The Brown Branch closed in 2001 to make room for the current 16,000-square-foot Irvington Branch, which opened later that same year.
