The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs Hans Zimmer's Oscar-winning score from Disney's 1994 film The Lion King, conducted by Jack Everly.
Disney's The Lion King: Live in Concert comes to the Hilbert Circle Theatre on Saturday, February 13, 2027. It's part of a long run that stretches through December 23, 2027, so if that particular Saturday doesn't work, you've got plenty of other dates to choose from. The performance runs through October 15-17, 20, 23-24, 27, 30-31, November 1, and December 4-23.
The setup is straightforward: the original 1994 version of The Lion King plays on the screen, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs the score live in the room. Hans Zimmer's Oscar-winning score is what they're playing, conducted by the orchestra's Principal Pops Conductor, Jack Everly. It's the original version of the film, so you're seeing the movie as it first came out, not a remake or a reimagining.
That original soundtrack is a collaboration of a few different hands. The music is by Elton John, the lyrics are by Tim Rice, and the African vocal and choir arrangements were done by South African producer and composer Lebo M. The whole presentation is licensed by Disney Concerts.
