Team competitive improvisation comedy show, like 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' with a sporting twist, played by two teams of Players in front of a live audience.
ComedySportz is back at The Wit Theater on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 PM. If you've never seen it, the format is team competitive improvisation for all ages, a bit like Whose Line Is It Anyway? but with a sporting twist: two teams of players compete for laughs, points, and the Trophy, while a Referee keeps the match moving, takes suggestions from the audience, and calls fouls. Because every match is built from those audience suggestions, no two nights are the same.
It's Indianapolis's longest-running comedy show, dating back to February 1993, and one branch of CSz Worldwide, which is played in more than 25 cities. Over the years it's moved around the city: it opened at Theatre on the Square in Fountain Square, spent 21 years on Mass Ave, and now calls The Wit Theater on Shelby Street its home. That's a venue that also runs improv classes for adults and summer camps for students, with no prior experience necessary if you're looking to get on stage yourself.
