Béla Fleck brings My Bluegrass Heart to Clowes Memorial Hall on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. It's a Grammy-winning bluegrass project, and he's performing it with a multi-generational lineup of players: fiddler Michael Cleveland, mandolinist Dominick Leslie, Jeff Partin on dobro, bassist and multi-instrumentalist Mark Schatz, and Jake Stargel on guitar.
For Fleck, this isn't just another tour. My Bluegrass Heart is the third chapter of a trilogy that started with the 1988 album Drive and continued in 1991 with The Bluegrass Sessions. The show brings that lineage back to the stage, played by a group of bluegrass musicians spanning different generations.
It's a good place to start if you're not familiar with him. Fleck has spent four decades working across nine different fields—Country, Pop, Jazz, Instrumental, Classical, and World Music—and he's picked up 19 Grammys along the way, but he's kept his roots in bluegrass throughout. He was born in New York City in 1958 and named after the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók. He first heard the banjo when he heard Earl Scruggs play the theme from The Beverly Hillbillies, and he got his first instrument at fifteen from his grandfather. He spent nine years with New Grass Revival before forming Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, a sound he describes as a mixture of acoustic and electronic music rooted in folk, bluegrass, funk, and jazz.
