Free storytime session for infants and toddlers at the Eagle Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library to foster early literacy and parent-child bonding.
Toddler Tales is back at the Eagle Branch on Monday, December 21, from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. It's part of the Indianapolis Public Library's Baby and Toddler Storytime series, and as the name suggests, it's built for infants and toddlers. The session is designed to help them develop physical skills, early language, and early literacy, while strengthening the bond between the child and their parent or caregiver.
If you're new to the library's storytime, it's a low-pressure way to get your little one around books and other kids. The focus is on those early milestones—listening, following along, and moving around—so it's as much about the activity as it is about the stories. It's a good fit for families with very young children who are just starting to explore language and reading.
The Eagle Branch itself has a bit of a history in the neighborhood. It first opened in 1960 as a storefront at 30th Street and Lafayette Road, which made it the first branch in the system to be located in a shopping center. In 1970, it moved to a 12,000-square-foot stand-alone building at 3325 Lowry Road. That building was eventually replaced on June 1, 2019, by the current 20,000-square-foot library at 3905 Moller Road, which is where you'll find this session.
