A special concert featuring Tony Award-winning singer Lea Salonga performing with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, covering Broadway and Disney favourites.
Lea Salonga is back at the Hilbert Circle Theatre on Tuesday, October 20, for a concert with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. It's her fifth time performing with the ISO, and the set draws from the Broadway and Disney songs that have defined her career. You'll hear numbers from Les Misérables, Wicked, Aladdin, and Miss Saigon.
If you know her voice but aren't sure where it comes from, here's the shorthand. Salonga is a Tony Award-winning actress and singer who first made her mark as Kim in Miss Saigon, the role that won her the Tony. Since then, she's appeared on stage in Les Misérables, Allegiance, Once on This Island, and Here Lies Love. Beyond the stage, she's the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin and of Fa Mulan in Mulan and Mulan II—work that earned her the title of Disney Legend.
On the night, she'll be joined by Daniel Edmonds on piano, background vocalist Yuko Takahashi, and Andrew Kotzen, with the ISO led by Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly. The program runs through the Broadway and Disney favorites that shaped her career, so you'll get the stage work and the Disney songs in the same evening.
