Stomping Ground is a plant nursery, florist and garden center at 1625 Nowland Ave, in the Windsor Park neighborhood on Indianapolis' Near East Side. The shop combines plants and gifts. For plants, you'll find in-season flowers that last longer than grocery store bouquets, along with houseplants, annuals, native plants, seeds and gardening supplies. Outdoor annuals and natives are sold from April to October, so the outdoor selection is at the end of its season right now. The gift side is broad: puzzles, books, teas, bath and body items, candles, greeting cards, toys, postcards, stickers, jewelry and whimsical knick-knacks. Shelves carry items made by small businesses, and shirts are made in the store, with custom orders available. Two examples are the We Are The Weirdos Card at $5.50 and the Raaka Maple & Nibs Unroasted Dark Chocolate Bar at $10.00. The Woodruff Place Halloween Tee Shirt was offered for pre-order in 2026 at $25.00 to $40.00, in youth and unisex sizes from Small to 3XL, plus crewneck and hooded sweatshirts. Pre-orders closed on October 12, and pickup was set for October 21, so those dates have passed. On Saturdays in spring and fall, the shop also creates corporate gift baskets, small event floral arrangements and custom gifts for non-profit boards or volunteers.
Regular hours are 11:00 to 18:00 (6:00 p.m.) Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 to 17:00 (5:00 p.m.) on Sundays. Today is Wednesday, so the shop is open until 18:00. Store pickup is available. Parking is free, with a lot in the rear and free street parking around the shop. The shop is next to Amelia's Bakery & Coffeeshop and within walking distance of Bottleworks and the east end of Mass Ave. By bus, take the IndyGo 10E to Newman Street, then walk two short blocks north. The shop is about a five-minute walk from that stop. The shop posts new items and photos daily on Instagram at @stompinggroundindy, and you can find more details on its website, stompinggroundindy.com.
