If you've been meaning to catch Harvest Nights before it wraps, the clock is ticking. Now in its seventh season, the spooky-but-not-scary walk at The Garden at Newfields runs through November 1, so there's about a week left to get your tickets and pick a night. It's an outdoor experience on an accessible path that takes most people somewhere between 90 minutes and two hours to walk, and it runs rain or shine, with closures only for severe weather announced on social media, the website and by email.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Indianapolis and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

The route is built around a few big moments. The Pumpkin Path of Peril is a fog-filled forest with thousands of pumpkins and jack-o'-lanterns, and the Fungi Forest gathers 50 large handcrafted mushrooms by artist Kara Kent and local partner Expo Arts, LLC. Mischief Manor takes over the historic Lilly House, presented by Tiffany Skilling Interiors, and fills it with Halloween decor, a library with flying book pages, a witch's kitchen and 30 hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns by local artist Katie Lloyd-Jones, plus a new Lightborne zoetrope shadow projection in the Great Hall. Upstairs, adults 21 and over can head into the Harvest Nights Lounge, presented by Cutwater, for themed decor, a photo booth and signature cocktails. The Garden Monsters installation, presented by Corteva Agriscience, pulls its creatures from the book The Goth Garden: The Mystery, Beauty, and Lore of Dark Gardening by Felicia Feaster, and a new interactive Lightborne element called Boo Shoo lets you shoo away ghosts as you go.
There are a few dates worth planning around. The Art or Treat trick-or-treat trail runs on October 15 and 16 and closes at 10 PM, with non-food options marked by a Teal Pumpkin as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project; full-face masks aren't allowed. The Spooky Screenings series at the Tobias Theater plays classics like Casper, Hocus Pocus, Scream and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and your Harvest Nights entry is included after the film, though the Scream screening is 21 and over and comes with entry to Ghouls Night Out.
On food and drink, you'll find Bavarian-style churros, giant Bavarian pretzels, vampire fries with parmesan and garlic, caramel corn and a new meat chili from local provider Fischer Farms, while the drinks list runs to Spooky Campfire Cocoa from Hotel Tango Distillery, Whiskey Applejack from Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey and Elysian Brewing Co.'s Night Owl Pumpkin Ale, with ID required for all alcohol purchases. Everwise Credit Union is the presenting sponsor, with Elysian and Tiffany Skilling Interiors as lead sponsors.
A couple of practical notes before you go. Tickets start at $25 and move with date and demand, so Newfields members get the lowest price, and children 5 and under are free. There's a $2 processing fee per paid ticket and a mandatory $10 ticket insurance that lets you change your date once during the festival, though it's not required for children 5 and under or Access Pass holders. Group rates kick in at 20 or more people. Reserved Priority Parking is $20 a car and recommended in advance; on busy nights, unreserved parking may be directed to the Indiana Interchurch Center at 1100 W. 42nd Street, with two new free buses running between that lot and Newfields this year. All parking is accessible, wheelchairs and strollers are welcome, and a lactation room is available at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and in the Mischief Manor basement.
