Spanish-language yoga, breathing and meditation class for the Spanish-speaking community, part of the Fitness in the Park series at Discovery Green.
Yoga en Español is back at Discovery Green on Monday, October 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. It's a class built for Houston's Spanish-speaking community, combining yoga with breathing and sound-meditation practices. If you're looking for a way to wind down on a Monday evening, this is a good place to start.
The class is part of Fitness in the Park, a series of free outdoor exercise sessions presented by UTHealth Houston at Discovery Green. The university is sponsoring the program again this year, and the goal is simple: bringing health and happiness to the community. It's not just yoga, either. The full lineup runs five days a week and includes Tai Chi, Hip Hop Yoga, and other mindful-movement practices, all open to every fitness level. Whether you've never stepped on a mat or you've been practicing for years, you'll fit in.
Yoga en Español is the specific session for the city's Spanish-speaking community, so the instruction is in Spanish. It blends the physical postures of yoga with breathing and sound-meditation, making it as much about the mental side as the physical one. It's a great way to get some movement in while the sun is going down over downtown.
