Writing workshops run by Writers in the Schools at Discovery Green, encouraging self-expression and connection with nature.
Writers in the Schools is hosting writing workshops at Discovery Green on Saturday, October 10, from 9 AM to 4 PM. It's a drop-in session, so you can swing by whenever you have a window during the day rather than committing to a set block of time. If you can't make this one, they'll be back a month later on Saturday, November 14.
The workshops are run by Writers in the Schools, an organization that brings writers into schools and communities to foster reading and writing among young people. These sessions are built for young scholars, storytellers, and creative writers of all ages, and they're designed to unlock the joy and power of self-expression. The whole idea is to get you to unplug from your devices and connect with nature instead. All you really need is your imagination; bringing a favorite notebook is optional, but probably a good call if you're the type who likes to keep what you write.
At Discovery Green, these workshops sit among the park's Signature Experiences, a program of free activities and entertainment offered to get Houstonians connecting with one another and with what is authentically about the city. It's one of those things that works just as well if you're coming alone as if you're bringing a group of friends or kids.
